Hot bi real estate agent Madison Hildebrand dishes on Bravo’s
Million Dollar Listing and gives us some tips on buying real
estate in a tough market.
How many people can say that their real estate agent is
a 27-year-old bisexual hottie who recently appeared on the
cover of Playgirl? Well Million Dollar Listing’s Madison
Hildebrand isn’t exactly your father’s real estate agent,
and he’s here to do away with the profession’s long-standing
image of stodgy older men in tacky gold blazers.
Hildebrand is much more than just a pretty face, however.
Aside from being one of Malibu’s top-producing real estate
agents, he’s written the book Activate Your Passion, Create
Your Career, and became the breakout star of Bravo’s latest
hit cable show, which follows three of L.A.’s youngest and
most successful real estate agents as they compete to help
buy and sell some of the city’s most expensive and exclusive
properties.
We sat down with the beach boy to find out some tips on how
to maneuver in today’s shaky market, if his co-stars really
are as crazy as they appear and which team he’s predominately
playing for.
How has the success of Million Dollar Listing affected your
real estate business?
It has been incredible for my business. I get new clients
every day, and I’m grateful for all the new business.
Has being on the show helped you attain more respect with
those who would question your abilities because of your age?
Yes, TV provides a certain level of credibility. But also,
the viewer gets to see my style of doing business, which
makes it easier for them to decide if they like or dislike
my abilities.
How did you get into real estate at such a young age?
I basically played the cards I was dealt and focused 100
percent on succeeding.
With the economy being as rocky as it is currently, what
advice would you give to someone who is in the market to
buy or sell property?
1. Get realistic.
2. Listen to your agent.
3. Do your homework.
4. Go for it.
Did you ever have reservations about opening up about your
sexuality on TV?
Yes, I did. However, I saw it as an opportunity to help other
people and their families who were experiencing the same
feelings and situations. I wanted to show people that you
can be young, happy—truly happy—and successful and be completely
accepting of yourself.
Your co-stars, Chad Rogers and Josh Flagg, really make you
appear to be the “normal” one on the show. Are they really
as dramatic as they come off?
Like I avoided conflict on the show, I do the same in interviews.
The program caught all of us in our truth. It is what it
is.
So are you happy with the way you were portrayed on the
show?
[Laughs] Yes, I was happy.
A lot of our (male) readers are dying to know if you still
consider yourself bisexual (or polyamorous)?
I am not going to get away from this question, am I? Well,
I am primarily dating men.
Are you seeing anyone right now?
Yes, I have an interest in someone.
You’re a young, good-looking, successful guy in Los Angeles.
How do you stay grounded?
I live in Malibu, which is grounding itself. I have two brothers
and a family that keeps it real, too.
How was it posing for Playgirl?
Another day at the office. [Laughs] Sliding around in socks
is fun!
If you ever find time in your busy schedule to cut loose,
what do you enjoy doing?
I love to travel, do yoga and run or swim at the beach. If
you ever see me out on the town, you will find me on the
dance floor, another one of my favorite pastimes.
Are you onboard for Season Three of Million Dollar Listing?
We are working on something now, but we’ll see.
