  Into The Groove

The second annual L.A. Weekly Detour Music Festival will give concertgoers two reasons to party, as both Bloc Party and Satellite Party are confirmed for the Oct. 6 show in downtown Los Angeles. Justice, the Teddybears, Kinky, Autolux, Moving Units and more will also be appearing—and yours truly will have a DJ set there, too. Tickets are on sale now.

Drug-related issues continue to plague Amy Winehouse and junkie-hubby Blake Fielder-Civil, and both sets of their parents have been talking to the British press. Winehouse’s dad is ready to tell people to boycott Amy’s record and concerts as a wake-up call, but Fielder-Civil’s parents don’t seem to “get it.” Instead of attending an important AA-type meeting when the couple got out of rehab, they instead joined the two at a local pub! This sad story is far from over, unfortunately.

Daft Punk will be dropping a two-disc collection from their amazing live performances. Daft Punk Alive 2007 will be taken from the band’s first hometown gig in Paris in over a decade, and the set will come with a 50-page digi-book showcasing photos shot on their tour. The live video of “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” (directed by Olivier Gondry) will be the lead track, and it all hits stores on Nov. 20.

George Michael, fresh from his stint performing community service for his numerous drug-related misdemeanors in London, will be writing a brand new Christmas song for—the Spice Girls! Meanwhile, Victoria Beckham has hired none other than choreographer Adam Shankman (of Hairspray fame) to get the girls’ dance routines up to snuff for their upcoming reunion tour. And speaking of dancing Spice Girls, Mel B will shuffle her girl-power shoes along with Wayne Newton, Marie Osmond and Jennie Garth starting next week in the new season of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.

Here’s a mindf--k: Did you know Mick Jagger has a granddaughter? Well, it’s true, and the 15-year-old Assisi Jackson was caught by the paparazzi smoking a spliff in Ibiza. Nothing hugely shocking about that, except seated next to her in the pic is her mom Jade Jagger. Ah, the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle.

Britney Spears Wwatch

Britney gave the paparazzi more eyefuls last week—appearing at the opening of LAX nightclub in Las Vegas with Criss Angel, puffing cigarette smoke in her kids’ faces and letting her dimply butt cheeks hang out of a dress that looked like a shirt. But the bigger news was that two new Britney tracks leaked out, and shockingly, they're actually both pretty decent. “Gimme More” leads off with Brit declaring, “It's Britney, bitch,” then bumps 'n’ grinds into breathy Kylie Minogue territory. “Cold As Fire” is a bit more poppy, but those helium-high vocals get a bit annoying. Meanwhile, look at this new pic of Ms. Spears for a lesson in hyper Photoshop.
