IT’S A CLASSIC

The Spa Resort & Casino is the host venue again for the next Classic Car Auction by Keith McCormick’s Palm Springs Exotic Car Auctions. Set for the weekend of Feb. 26-28, the event will feature more than 450 cars crossing the block. Friday is the perfect time to cruise around and see the many autos, and admission is free. It is check-in day and the auction begins at 4 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, admission is $10 per day or $15 for both days with gates opening at 8 a.m. The resort is conveniently located downtown Palm Springs and brings together a diverse, devoted group of car enthusiasts.

CHRONICALLY HEALTHY

Beginning Tuesday, Feb. 2 and continuing for six weeks, The Golden Rainbow Senior Center presents a series of informative, free workshops for Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Health Conditions. This series was developed by Stanford University and is ideal for those suffering from diabetes, arthritis, high-blood pressure, heart disease or HIV/AIDS. Classes are each Tuesday from 3:30-6 p.m. A variety of topics include how to reduce fatigue and anxiety, how to communicate better with your doctor, how to set goals and make positive changes, and how to manage sleep-loss and pain. The center is for LGBT elders and their supports, and offers an array of classes and support groups.

BURLY MAN

The next show at The Thorny Theater is a musical romp complete with sexy strippers featuring an array of songs, sketches and one-liners. Titled MENsky’s BURLYesque, the show opens on Friday, Feb. 5 and plays through Sunday, Feb. 28. The new show is conceived and directed by local playwright Larry Lazarro who describes the showcase as “a fast-paced show of saucy vignettes.” The cast includes Rob Denk, Marko Milbourne, Donnie Navarro, Jersey Shore and Frank Urban. This show is for mature audiences only. The Thorny Theater is the Valley’s only LGBT theatre company and is located at 2500 N. Palm Canyon Dr. Call for specific performance times.
