Cabin of Shame

Karen Ocamb has been an asset to the gay community for some time now. I read with disbelief her Your World report [“Log Cabin Republicans Endorse McCain-Palin,” Vol. 27, issue 10] about the gay republican group, Log Cabin, endorsing the two most homophobic presidential running mates in history. That's like Jews endorsing Nazi candidates. That group works against all gay people and all gay people's rights. Shame on such a sad, illogical and destructive group of anti-gay homosexuals.

Ivy’s League

I am a member of the community who has read your publication for years. Thank you for being there. Thank you for addressing the "over the white party generation." Your cover [Vol. 27, issue 10] was stunning. I read most of the articles written by the over 50 community, but there was one that resounded within my brain. Thank God for the adventure called Ivy Bottini. I'm not a feminist, not even an activist, just another person living in this world. I am on the other side of a blimp in my life that rendered me impotent (not a reference to my sexual life) for two years. Ms. Bottini so eloquently verbalized the present flow of my life. It was great to read it in print by someone who understands. Now if I can only execute the incredibly prolific statement she made, "get out of your own way." She said, "Life has a life of its own." I love the adventures, now if I can only "surrender control." Ms. Bottini's words expressed my emotions so succinctly and clearly. She is a role model for me. Thank you for representing a female view! Keep up the great work!

In Praise of Older Men

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the issue, "Fabulous, Fierce, & Over 50"! I would agree, they are much older and much wiser! I just recently turned 24 years old and am in a relationship with a man nearly 46 years older than myself! Now that might sound a bit strange to some but to us, age is just a number. We met online over three years ago; first with e-mails, phone calls, letters, etc. and after two years of just that, I finally made the decision to come out here for a visit. When we met for the first time, it felt as if we had known each other our whole lives. After that week, I eventually made the move out here full-time. I have been out here for a year now and the relationship is still going strong—of course with its ups and downs, as every relationship has. Keep promoting the "older" men out there! I enjoy the magazine. Thanks for the great writing.
