From the “we thought this was obvious” dept.
I just read James F. Mills' interview with Dr. Frank Spinelli
(“The Doctor is Out,” March 11 issue), specifically
that Dr. Spinelli "stresses the importance of having
a gay doctor." Here's a suggestion from another gay
doctor (myself): a zillion times more important than choosing
a gay doctor (unless you're looking for a date), get yourself
a good doctor.

Happily Partnered
We would like to thank Michael Kearns for his favorable
mention of us in his piece (“Aging With HIV/AIDS,” March
11 issue). As ex-Angelenos we were very much aware of Mr.
Kearns' work then and still keep an eye from way out
here in the desert.
Just one minor thing we'd like to point out: We are the
423rd registered domestic partnership with the state of California.
We are, therefore, partners, not lovers. The latter term
carries a certain panache of being outside the legal, which
isn't necessarily a bad thing. But, having lived together
for so many years as lovers before being allowed partnership,
we now very much prefer partners.
