A LABOR OF LOVE

Well, here it is — our annual "Sex & Love" issue. When we began to think about someone to photograph for our cover, we all agreed model/local fixture Daniel Miagany was a natural. At least half a dozen of my close friends consider Daniel to be synonymous with sex. Daniel was a blast to work with at the shoot, and such a good sport at what we put him through. We were so pleased with the photos that we’ve interspersed them through the feature section of this issue.

Instead of the usual list of sexiest men or the latest cruising spots in SoCal, we decided to get serious about sex. Michael Liberatore has written an eye-opening article about the very nature of sex addiction and Kevin Johnson has written about his personal experience converting to sober sex. Both should be essential reading.

Also be sure to read about Calpernia Addams, who, despite knowing more tragedy than anyone should bear, is one of the most lighthearted people you’re likely to meet. She’s now starring with her pal Andrea James in the new Logo reality series Transamerican Love Story premiering in February.

Finally, don’t forget to peruse our Valentine’s Gift Guide on page 39. Lenora Claire has compiled many terrific and unusual suggestions for the Valentine on your list and if that person happens to be me, I’ll take the Liberace sneakers in size ten and a half, thank you.
