  Cheap Date: Dig the Pig

In honor of the Fri., Dec. 8 screening of The Muppet Movie, we bring you an all Miss Piggy themed Cheap Date.

5:21 p.m.

We can’t think of a better way to begin celebrating our favorite muppet than by taking a trip over to the Jim Henson Studios (1416 N. La Brea Ave.) for an ultra glamorous photo op. While the saying may be that you “have to kiss a few frogs to find your prince,” you can easily snag a photo with Miss Piggy’s froggy prince right in front of the building.

Cost: Free

6:16 p.m.

Forget what you’ve heard about stinking like a pig and head over to the perfume counter at Bloomingdale’s (8500 Beverly Blvd.) in Beverly Center to pick up Moi, Miss Piggy’s signature scent. Packaged in an elegant velvet pouch, it only takes one whiff before you’re feeling swine and dandy.

Cost: $24

7:33 p.m.

You may remember those ads Miss Piggy and Kermit did for Denny’s (7373 Sunset Blvd.) grand slam breakfasts a while back. While we can’t really understand the endorsement of pig cannibalism, we’ll go anywhere that’s good enough for our gal.

Cost: About $10 a person

8:34 p.m.

We almost wish she called her karate chops “pork chops,” but take a moment out to practice some of Miss Piggy’s best moves. Don’t forget to yell her signature “Hi-ya!” before entering the Bourgeois Pig (5931 Franklin Ave.) before imbibing a hot drink.

Cost: About $5 for a tea or coffee

Midnight

Some things only get better with time, and that certainly includes the still fantastic Muppet Movie being screened as part of the midnight movie series at the Nuart Theatre (11272 Santa Monica Blvd.) Watch Kermit the Frog, Fozzie the Bear, Miss Piggy, and the gang chew the scenery next to Orson Welles and Dom Deluise in this madcap muppet classic.

Cost: $9 a person —LENORA CLAIRE
