Food, Glorious Food

Nearly every Sunday morning you’re likely to run into me and Frontiers’ lifestyle editor Korina Jochim separately perusing the fresh produce at the Farmers’ Market in Hollywood. I usually stop by simply to take advantage of a free breakfast by indulging in the delicious samples of seasonal fruits. Korina, however, is a much more ambitious gourmet. She can be seen toting bags filled with vegetables and herbs for elaborate stews and quiches she makes at home and brings to the office for lunch. When planning editorial for our annual “dining” issue, Korina decided to focus on one of the latest trends in cuisine — organic, sustainable foods, which can be found at any of the farmers’ markets and in many restaurants around town. We also asked one of our frequent contributors Richard Andreoli, a self-professed foodie, to interview chefs at some of our favorite restaurants about another new trend in dining, New American cuisine. Read all about this progressive culinary movement in the feature article on page 66.

For our cover, we decided to shoot one of our favorite actors Peter Paige with newcomers Alex Brightman, and Seth Numrich, two of his costars in The History Boys. This complex and deeply amusing play, set in an English grammar school for boys, is particularly resonant with wistful LGBT audiences for the relatable unrequited crush the self aware gay character Posner has on charismatic fellow student Dakin. The show was a smash when it premiered in the UK and swept the Tonys when the show made it to Broadway, winning a record six awards. Try to catch the show during its limited engagment at the Ahmanson Theatre.

As always, I welcome your feedback. Write in (to letters@frontiers publishing.com) to let us know what you think.

Yours,

Jeremy Kinser
Editor in Chief
